Fear God
In Hebrew, yirah (Jonah 1:16, Psalm 90:11), yare (Malachi 3:16) and pachad (Job 3:25a, Psalm 119:120) mean reverent fear, terror, or dread; normally translated fear. There are other words in Hebrew for mere respect, reverence, or honor, such as kabad (Exodus 20:12). In Greek fear/terror is phobo (Matthew 28:4, I Peter 2:17c), where reverence or honor is timao (I Peter 2:17).
Psalm 33:8 “Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.”
Psalm 76:7 “You, Yourself, are to be feared; and who may stand in Your presence when once You are angry?”
Ecclesiastes 3:14 “I know that whatever God does, it shall be forever. Nothing can be added to it, and nothing taken from it. God does it, that men should fear before Him.”
Psalm 34:11 “Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord.”
Proverbs 1:7 “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”

Why Fear God?
Hebrews 12:29 “For our God is a consuming fire.”
Isaiah 33:14 “Sinners in Zion are terrified; trembling has seized the godless. Who among us can live with the consuming fire? Who among us can live with continual burning?
Hebrews 10:31 “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.”
Fear Him in His severity (Psalm 90:11) and in His goodness (Jeremiah 33:9; Luke 5:26; 7:16; Acts 2:43).
Romans 11:22 “You must try to appreciate both the kindness and the strict justice of God.”
Romans 11:36 “For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.”

The song of the Lamb asks, Who shall not fear You, O Lord, and glorify Your name? [Revelation 15:4]
