Affection: (Good & Bad)

Love or Lust?
ηδονη [#2237] “pleasure”
{James 4:1-3} Seeking/Desire with wrong [self] motivations.
ασελγεια [#766] “absence of restraint; licentiousness; wantonness”
{Mark 7:22; II Corinthians 12:21; Galatians 5:19; Ephesiansa 4:19} Sensuality; lustfulness.
ορεξις [#3715] “reaching after” (especially with the mind)
{Romans 1:27; I Timothy 6:10} Seeking things of the world/flesh.
{I Timothy 3:1; Hebrews 11:16} Longing for a better place.
επιθυμια [#1939] “strong desire”
{Matthew 5:28; Romans 13:14; Galatians 5:16,24; Ephesians 2:3} Enticing desires of the Flesh/Mind.
{Luke 22:15; Philippians 1:23; I Thessalonians 2:17} A desire to be with you; share together.
αγαπαω [#25] “all for you” The very Love that is [of] God.
{John 13:34; 14:21; I Thessalonians 3:12} “An unselfish 'love', ready to serve.”

Both loves appear in John 21:15-17 as αγαπας; αγαπας; ϕιλεις.
Bad passion:

The four abstentions {Acts 15:20,29; 21:25}: Idols; πορνειας; what's strangled; blood.

{II Corinthians 12:21; Galatians 5:19-21; Ephesians 5:3; Colossians 3:5} “Impurity, fornication & lustfulness.”

The Flesh, the World & the Devil:
No longer obliged to live according to the flesh. {Romans 8:5-14; Galatians 5:19-21}
No longer bound to live by “all that is in the world”. {I John 2:16}
No longer under peril to grovel in “the works of the devil.” {I John 3:8}
Our Desire:
Consider first the Kingdom of God. {Matthew 6:33; Colossians 3:1-3}
Consider ourselves dead to πορνειαι, ακαθαρσιαν, παθος, evil επιθυμιαν

Considering only the interests of others. {Romams 12:9-13; 15:2; I Corinthians 10:24; Philippians 2:1-4}
Shun hypocrisy and “double-mindedness”. {Matthew 12:35-37; James 1:6-8; I John 4:20}
